Canadian Immigration

March 23rd, 2008

The Canadian Immigrant Investor program is a very popular one. It is not too hard to access and the intermediaries (lawyer/consultant) are extremely well paid with the comission they get from the investment.

Canadian Immigration Principles

The Canadian immigration system is based on points. The Immigrant Investor program as well. The trick is that the Investment convention signed between the High Net Worth Immigrant (HNWI) and Canada gives almost all the points necessary to the immigrant to be accepted. Therefore, even if the Immigrant does not have the points for Education/Age/Langage categories it will not affect much his selection.

Canada through the Province of Quebec

Most Investor Immigrants selecting Canada enter through the Quebec Province program. Canada being a federation of provinces, it allows Quebec to select its immigrants. Because it is perfectly legal for canadian permanent residents to live anywhere in Canada, most Immigrant Investors enter through Quebec and move to the other provinces (Ontario, British Colombia)

What Immigrants don’t like about this program

The major negative aspects of this program are the long waiting period (some countries require more than one year) and the fact that the Immigrant Investor has an obligation of physical presence
